Okanogan Area Information

Okanogan County offers a myriad of delights for the adventurous. In winter, one can enjoy activities from cross country and downhill skiing, to snowmobiling or dog sledding. The area is abundant with streams, lakes and rivers affording the outdoorsman opportunities to white water raft, boat, swim or fish and hunt. There are mountains to climb or hike, small towns to visit, concerts to attend, rodeos to enjoy, and farmers markets and fresh produce stands for one's culinary delight.

Okanogan County is the largest county in the state of Washington. It covers 5,315 square miles of which 5,268 is land and 47 square miles is water. The Cascade Mountains, the Columbia River and the Okanogan River make Okanogan County a truly spectacular vacation land. It is home to the Okanogan National Forest and a portion of the Nez Perce National Historical Park.

Okanogan County has four distinct seasons. he summers are dry and warm and the winters are cold and clear. The majority of the precipitation falls as snow which makes the area perfect for those who enjoy winter sports. Visitors from the west side of the mountains flock to Okanogan in the Spring in search of warm, dry weather and visit in the fall to enjoy the beautiful fall colors.
